Two Month Horror Movie Marathon!

220px-Vampire_lovers231We are creeping steadily toward September, less than a month away from the Autumnal Equinox. Several years ago, as a celebration of Halloween and Samhain, I started a fun little ritual of watching at least one horror movie a day for the month of October. Last year, it expanded into the middle of September. So this year, I decided to get a big head-start on October 31st, and am going to watch a movie every day from September 1 through Halloween/Samhain.

People really seemed to enjoy Twitter and blog posts about each movie I watched, so I thought I would do that again this year.

Many days, especially on weekends, I would watch several movies a day. Many of the campy cult horror movies are fairly short, so it was easy to fit in several films.

Speaking of the films themselves, I tend to enjoy classic horror films, cult horror movies, and atmospheric horror movies. I don’t really enjoy the slasher type films, that rely on gore. Classic films like HalloweenFriday the 13th, and Black Christmas are fine, but the terrible knock-offs with buckets and buckets of blood and gore just don’t appeal to me. Vampire films are some of my favorites, and yes, some like John Carpenter’s Vampires  are pretty gore-filled, but I still love my vampire films! I love the old Hammer films, and stuff like The Ring, House on Haunted Hill, 13 Ghosts, Sleepy Hollow, Black Sunday, The Vampire Lovers, Carrie, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, The Others, Psycho, The Conjuring, and many more.

Here are the top rated horror movies in a list from IMDB.

I would like to appeal to the people who read this or follow me on Twitter or Google+, or Flipboard to make some suggestions of their favorites. There are lots and lots of horror movies out there, and many I’ve never seen or even heard of before. Feel free to leave me a comment, or a post on Twitter or G+.

Sometimes my blogs can get so deep or serious, it’s nice to throw in something fun like this. I look forward to reading and watching your suggestions!

Thanks for reading, and as always,

Blessed Be!
